Ready to Write!

November is almost here, and that means it’s almost NaNoWriMo! (That’s National Novel Writing Month!)  That means, come November 1st, I’ll have 30 days to write 50,000 words!  I won’t call it a novel, because it will probably degrade to me repeating “This is filler text” several hundred times at some point, (it worked last year!)  Regardless, there should be some novel-esque qualities in the result that I might be able to use.

Last year I wrote a pseudo-religious story.  I didn’t know what I was doing, so I just started with a concept and ran with it.  The result is terrible: I don’t recommend anyone read it.  However, I did learn a lot.  Mainly, I learned that you need a lot of words to make action happen.  Yep.  That’s the gem I took away from last year.  Oh, and I also learned that I should have made an outline.

This year, I’m going to put what I learned to use!  Yep!  I have several pages worth of outline, and I have about a page and a half of character descriptions that I can refer back to, so I won’t waste time searching back through my manuscript for some itty bitty detail.  I even have a working title: The Traveller’s Pendant!  The story is actually centered around some old DnD characters I created.  Well, ok, I only used one character.  The second was a backup in case the first got killed.  Funny thing, is that The Traveller’s Pendant has nothing to do with the DnD campaign said character was in.

I’d like to tell you more about it, but I’m going to be a jerk and make you read the book!  (Once it’s out, of course!)
